A poem for everyone who has something to say, but is never able to get people to understand it.
Ive got a mic and an empty stage
‘Cause no one that plays, promises to stay
So I turn up the volume
To be heard through the whole room
But the words I say
Aren’t the words that stay
in the minds of the people
Pretending to hear
Pretending they’re near
All they see is me onstage
A show not a man to save
But Im not here to be paid
Im here to keep you alive and engaged
In the dialogue of my brain
So you can explain why
Every night I find
The same guy with nothing to say
Up here with a mic and an empty stage.
