Reflections of a summers evening.

Blue grey sky washed a pastel pink
By a midsummer setting sun.
Swifts scream across the air
Followed by nightly visitors  in a pair
Batting their wings into fearsome speed.
Amongst the trees lush green, hidden from sight,
Blackbirds upon  the nest youngsters tucked in for the night,
Serenaded from atop a post  by her seasons mate.
Gently falls darkness of  the midsummer night,
Settling into a hushed silence carpeting the land,
Expectantly waiting for a new age to begin.
