A heartbroken guy. When his world falls apart all at the same time, all he can do is smoke a cigarette.
Mike is 26 and he’s searching for a hand
He’s got the best heart, trying to understand
How is life just fell apart, went straight to hell
With his ratty blue jeans, and his pack of reds
He looks up to the sky, and he wonders why
The worlds not kind, and he’s just getting by
It all started when mike and his wife
Were having some tensions,
She said she cheated, Mike couldn’t believe it
I got phone call while I was drivin’ down Broadway
And I heard mike say, Man-my wife she left me
Broke my trust, broke my heart
For both of us, just broke us down
Man you think I can turn it around?
Is their hope to be found?
Well on top of all that, mike’s parents were on the split
He looked at me, in misery
Said who would a thunk it?
Even a little bit?
Mike went on to say
That love didn’t have a clue, Love was gone
At least the love in mikes song anyway
Mike confessed that he needed Jesus
To save the day, and to take his pain away
What I saw though, might be hard to get to you
Mike held on to the pain, but didn’t let Jesus through
Oh mike was lost for sure
Mike didn’t have a clue
I saw mike walk out to smoke a cigarette
All that regret, he just couldn’t forget
And a tear rolled down his eye, as he looked into the sky
Said Lord oh my, I just wanna die
I wanna kill my pain, I wanna run away
It was the saddest picture I think I ever saw
A burnt down man, almost dead
Like his cigarette
