Millvina Dean was the oldest survivor of the sinking of the Titanic in 1912 and died aged 97 on the 31st May 2009 on the 98th anniversary of the Titanic’s launch from pneumonia. Millvina was the youngest passenger onboard HMS Titanic aged just nine weeks.
We were never meant to be there
But Father said to go
I was a baby
How was I to know?
Father died in 1912
The man I never knew
We returned to Southampton
My age in months was two
The catastrophe that shook the world
And I survived the longest
But on May 31st 2008
I took a well deserved rest
