Not having a place to belong.

Image via Wikipedia

Shape is not unusual, similar to all the rest.
Recesses, protusions and sharp right angles.
Hints of greenish blue indicate a plausible location
Within the soon to be completed puzzle scene.

Examine closely with the eye, picture on the box.
Try it here. Try it there. Set it now aside.
Piece after piece finds a spot, jointly fit together,
Filling empty holes and closing awkward gaps.

Single piece remains unclaimed, sitting all alone.
Picture without space, for contours set off kilter.
Indiscriminant shape becomes a misfit jigsaw
Waiting for that place to rightfully belong.

thing is at times i think all off us have been that lone piece. i think a few times in my life i felt like i was that piece that got added into the wrong box all together

I honestly have to say that on Triond…you don’t run into a lot of quality poetry. This is definitely an exception.

Maybe it was your word choice, or your lining style, or perhaps the overall metaphor that really made this poem count, but you certainly did well here.

Also, there were no rhymes…modern poetry seems to have adopted that. You, however, at least here, didn’t.

    Kind regards,

Awesome write and I may say yes each one of us has a place where someday we will fit perfectly.

I loved this poem. The metaphor of the puzzle is very clever. I like to think of all of us as part of a big jigsaw puzzle. We all fit somehow–it just takes some of us longer to find our place.

Like a jigsaw we are all unique. We feel alone, but are actually joined as part of a greater whole. Cool metaphor.

We are all part of the whole, love the way you put it.

Great write. Sounds like life to me.

As an analogy for self-discovery and finding one’s place within this puzzlement called life, this really works for me. Or am I even on the right track with my interpretation? ;^D
