Dedicated to Elders Smedley and Cluff with the greatest of respect.

You have saved what is left of me
but you cant understand why.
You’re humble like that.
I know I’ve told you many times
(at least to myself)
as you sit and write
the lessons made to save another.
I owe you so much.
So much I could never give.
Even now that my lips won’t say,
never because I don’t want to,
but because it’s hard for me.
This fire burns with intensity.
Inspiration
brighter than the dark.
Adversity hasn’t taken the smile
inside
no matter how hard it’s gotten.
A sickness I’ve struggled with
what seems like forever
no longer terrifies me
but gives me strength
to become better.
Just as I falter to paint this picture
of love to Him,
I will never find a way with these words
so you know exactly
what you have done.
Perhaps you know
that
when I’m lost I will always have
your words to help me find my way again.
My guide when I feel I’m falling.
Never touching the ground.
I may never know what you said,
what you did
to turn this life around.
I am forever grateful.
Heart full of purpose.
Patience unwavering as I had struggled with faith.
I could never see, even with serving Him
how one could stand
having all those doors slammed in their face.
But I realized it wasn’t about that.
It was about the one door that opens.
I’ve tried in these words
to not be metaphorical or cryptic
but I have to admit
the ‘door’ was perfect.
In the begining you planted the seed.
Reading from the book you quoted Alma.
I remember thinking of a poem
I had just written
that I  never believed until that moment.
I wanted to share
but that would have let my guard down.
It was the first true pivotal moment.
Persistance
as if it was known I needed
the inspiration you were giving.
I thrived in discussion,
realizing intimidation faded.
You were only human too.
You were ‘real’
even room for humor.
True , genuine heart.
What more could one say
or do.
Not enough gratitude in the world.
I just hope you leave knowing;
believing in me
that no matter what may lie ahead
if for but only one
your mission has been accomplished.
