A humorous and loving look at a South Mississippi Mom.

I’m a Mississippi Mama
With the Mississippi blues
I got a life full a’ drama
Not an ounce a’ good news
Got a house full a’ young’ns
Fightin’ like the devil
But at bedtime they be snugglin’
Like a quatr’in a’ little angels
Got a yard full a’ animals
Nippin’ at our heels
Got a family full a’ crim’nals
And a body full a’ ills
Got a Bible covered in dust
Sittin’ on the table
I swear I’ll read it yet or bust
But I hear the preacin’ on cable
Them old stories seem so sweet
But I never think about them much
But now I’m feelin’ the heat
And that ol’ serpents evil clutch
I can’t seem to make a d’cision
A Man (even Jesus) is a hard thing to trust
But they say He’s made provision
For the gates of Hell to bust
I don’t know if life can be better
But it sure can’t git no worse
But they say me and God together
Can handle every blame curse
So I guess I’m puttin’ my cards down
And trustin’ in His winnin’ hand
I’m takin’ up my Royal Crown
And joinin’ the faolks in the grandstand
I’ve had enough of raisin’ Hell
So Lord, just give me a’ taste of Heaven
Your mercy’s more than I can tell
Halleluiah, Praise God, I’m forgiven!
