Written some years ago when the first war in Iraq broke out. Given the current theme of the times, I felt it fitting that I share it with people.
Mist upon this thorny field
The day begins to what revealed
Smoke in the morning sky
Remorse in the raven’s cry
Sleeping soldiers in pools of blood
Tears washed away in the crimson flood
Fires char blackened Earth
Happy forests stripped of mirth
No more hope and no more lies
No more people, just hordes of flies
No more cities, no more towns
No more politicians and their clowns
Did man forget to divorce
Glory, greed and to stay the course
The idea that in the end would come
Praise to all and glory for some?
No more war, no more death
The last soul draws its last breath
A flash from heaven, a thundering sky
Only time enough to say goodbye
All in all there is no pride
For all gave some and all of them died
Out of these realize
There is nothing grand when man dies.
