Dedicated to my youngest brother-in-law in Morocco.

His laughter echoes around me like music
and I can see his eyes sparkle as they
dance to the tune of an inner joy.
Suddenly he smiles and the whole room
fills with light like a star shining
in the dark of night. His warmth draws me
and I can no more resist smiling with him
than a moth to a flickering flame. I am

captivated by his charm because I know that
although he is not quite yet a man, he is
no longer a boy for his toys have all been
replaced by books with which to learn
and his path in life already chosen.
Angelic is the only word I can find to
describe him, as I quietly watch from
a distance seeing his every emotion move
across his face like an open book. Sincere

and open he shares his love of life, caring
not what others think of him, but showing
a gentleness so rare for the youth of today.
He is only who he is, yes he is so much more
than what he seems and for this I can’t help
but to simply adore him.
To me … he is my friend, he is my brother,
and he is all that I have ever wanted to be.
