You hear a knock at the door
A normal occurence here
So you think nothing of it
Talking over skype
You ignore the conversation at the door
Your two nephews in the room playing
You notice muffled noises
You get up to see a struggle
This too is normal and figure you’d help
What you dont notice
Is the look of surprise on the others face
The knife in his hand
And the missing expected third party
Realization dawns on you too late
Mid stride as you realize you are within arms reach
Caught off guard every movement appears amplified
Adrenaline rushing within milli seconds
You duck and dodge but come back up too fast
The knife slices the left side of the back of your neck
The pain searing only briefly as you throw yourself backwards
Too slow but also just in time you avoid death
But the knife still pierces the front of your neck
You go down
Your sister is struggling against his choke hold as he swipes at you furiously
Moment of truth
You have two choices fight or die
Your whole body acts off instincts
You take a shot and tackle both him and your sister to the ground
Surprised by the force of the blow he lets your sister go
She runs out of the front door
But no time to worry about it
The threat is still very active
He attempts to stab you again
But you catch the knife by the blade
Cuttin your hand you force the blade from him
Anger coursing through your veins like blood and adrenaline
You begin to stab and slice at the man pinned underneath you
His blood on your hands
His movements beginning to become sluggish
But he doesnt stop trying to escape
Thats when you realize the one becoming sluggish isnt him
Its you
You realize he is unaffected by the pain
He’s doped up
Your breathe harsh and ragged
He starts to his feet
You attempt to hold him down
But your energy is depleted you have no strength
He gets to his feet
You grab his shirt
The pain from your hand begins to throb
Your grip is weak
He slips out of his hirt and takes off running
You start after him running 2 blocks
Before giving up
You’ve lost alot of blood
your vision is starting to blur
You make it back to the house your sister is there
On the phone with her boyfriend explainng the situation
You attempt to calm down to slow the blood flow
You lay down
Refusing to sleep
Afraid you might not wake up
You say a prayer
You sleep
But you refuse to die
You wake up in the hospital
Your sister’s boyfriend carried you there
The doctor walks in to get an explanation for the amount of cuts I received
Knowing the Full truth of what had just happened and why
You lie
And dont tell him why you were almost killed
And how your sister’s occupation was to blame
