Ever find yourself stuck in a rut? Well, trust me, nothing is going to change until YOU change it.

The metronome swings back and forth

Atop the piano at the center of the room

Its rhythm steady and so very

Predictable

Marking the time of each passing day

As the pendulum of the old grandfather clock

I sit in silence and listen

Click-clack, tick-tock

My fingers stilled on the keys, I wait

For a break in the pattern

Nothing changes

Unless I change it

I accompany, banging the keys in total

 Discord, out of sync

Out of time, a cacophony of sound

 To drown out the steady

Ever-present click-clack and tick-tock

Break the monotony

That has become my life
