Being still… learning to look within…
Monsters behind doors
offices and board rooms running well
executives and presidents they will not tell
no one knows until the media swells
with the news of secret hells
Monsters behind doors
houses built and wealth displayed
but the heart of it is completely dismayed
a house a home does not make
it’s what you bring to it not what you take
the families inside are absolutely ignored
their lives are unfulfilled and bored
they should have been fully explored
Monsters behind doors
schools guiding and teaching all day long
but the children inside don’t feel strong
and they don’t feel they belong
instead of seeing and hearing their immediate needs
like filling their hunger bellies so that they can think to succeed
so learning won’t be ignored
so learning can be explored
Monsters behind doors
hospitals treat and heal from babies to the old
but run out of medical insurance you’ll soon be told
this is not a charity so go on your way
wait in a line somewhere you don’t have to pay
the poor they can’t afford
so they get blasted and silently ignored
Monsters behind doors
churches have spokesmen that preach
and teach the word
some keep hurting children
while still claiming they love the Lord
they keep fighting among each other
hiding behind the mighty sword
there is no justice here
and none should be poured
Monsters behind doors
someone ought to take a look
it’s just not found in a story
or in a Stephen King’s book
darkness magnifies in places that
are often so near and so dear
all we have to do is take our blinders off
and see what truly appears
Monsters are everywhere
behind our own doors
faces staring back up at us
from the mirrors in our own cracked floors
Monsters behind doors
