A poem I wrote on the way back from a friends funeral.
The moon was so red that night
On my way home, that sight
You were lying there
Perfectly still, no cares
When word had come
I was stunned
You were so young
Just a year born
Before me
It’s so hard to see
Seems just like yesterday
You were a kid at play
Despite what some will say
I’ll pray anyway
As we all look at you
Can’t believe this is true
Tears all around the room
Why did you go so soon?
