Morning Call

When your bladder wakes you in the night.

I used to sleep through the night like a baby

Well, an older baby at least

We had a little one once with colic

But that’s another story all together

Anyway, it’s 4 AM and my bladder called me

What a subtle thing is that

You just know your need to go

Not a real emergency, no like at the ball game

But here’s my question

I was sound asleep when nature called

No alarm clock there, subtle as I said

How did the rest of me know I had to go

As long as I don’t drink coffee too late I can usually sleep through the night without needing to go to the bathroom.

One time I dreamed I had to use the bathroom. I peed in the dream toilet and found I wet my bed when I woke up.
