The United States will celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday May 8th. I felt it an appropriate time to acknowledge mothers and to wish all moms in the world a Happy Mother’s Day.

Do you appreciate your mother and do you show her so

Do you tell her that you love her so that mom’s heart will know

Did you call your mother today and ask how she was

Just to talk for no reason, just because

Do you hug her and kiss her and express your love

Or do you have a shield, a guard up that you are above

Remember the dinners and breakfasts and lunches

And the countless times you were told she loved you bunches

The day would begin at the bottom of the stairs

Rise and shine were her words given freely with cheers

Was her love for you so simple and always unconditional

But were you selfish, greedy and wanting something additional

Do you respect your mother and the wisdom of her years

Can you still hear the times she went to bed with tears

When you were dirty she bathed you and hungry you were fed

She lovingly had you say your prayers as she tucked you in bed

Were you taught the difference between right and wrong

Did you know then that life’s journey can be painful and long

With life there is death, just no other way out

My mom died this past year, but she is on heaven’s route

She was the matriarch of the family, fun loving and free

Her joy, laughter and love brought us all so much glee

So Happy Mother’s Day mom, I miss you so much

However, you’re not far as you reach down with your touch

So it is your two granddaughters I’ll wish Happy Mother’s Day to

You would be so proud of them mom, for they love just like you

To all the mothers in the world it is your day of dedication

Now it is the time for your children to openly display their appreciation

If your mom is still here then you can go the extra mile

Do something special, flowers, cards, I love you with a smile

She may not be here next year, remember that fact

And good deeds like bad can not be taken back

Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Very thoughtful writing. I miss mine a lot even though, it’ll be this year fifteen years she left us.
When I’m strolling about the streets on a sunny day, I search for secluded garden, look up to the sky searching for a small, white cloud. I always think she’s travelling on it. I whisper a conversation with her. It helps to keep going ahead.
Keep this type of thoughtful writings. Thanks for sharing.

A wonderful and beautifully written poem. My mother left to her heavenly home two years ago. I think Mother\’s day is every day not just one day out of the year.

What a lovely tribute to all Mothers, as they are usually the heart and soul of the family unit. Like you, this is my first Mother’s Day without my own mother. Happy Mother’s Day!

What a nice poem. I spent Mothers Day in Singapore. After a phone call with my son in New Zealand I spent several hours in the company of two wonderful Singaporean Triond writers. It was a special day.

Love this poem. It made me sad knowing that my mom died without me having the chance of telling her how much I love her. I really miss her so much. She died when I was a small kid.

Awww.. I visit my mother every month even if I have to make a night trip for 10 hours. There’s no one in the world who can love me like she does. I love the message in this poem. :)
