Poem/story of forbidden love, and mothers who always have a listening ear…

Thats all she could tell Maria,
all this time all these years,
didnt know much about the Maori’s,
false knowledge can breed fears…..
Then Maria fully explained to her mother,
what happen to her that day,
when she went to seek cover,
from the storm and pouring rain…..
Of the strange old man she met,
the most hideous thing she’d seen,
of an old cabin where she slept,
it all seems like a dream…..
There was no electricity or telephone,
above his door hung a double barrel bore,
seemed like he lived alone,
an old guitar laid on the floor…..
Was amazed at his collection of books,
they all seemed to be of poets,
there was Keats Shakespear Twain and Brookes,
and many others with versus and sonnetts…..
Her Mum heard more than everything,
she heard her daughters heart,
and knew this man or thing,
had ignited a little spark…..
She turned and gazed out the window,
at the mountain of love in snow,
Maria was still talking about the man,
sometimes her voice was soft and low…..
Her mother mused this is no ordinary man,
when a mature woman talks like a girl,
you may as well speak to the hand,
theres nothing else in the world…..
She turned and smiled at her daughter,
Maria was now talking with laughter,
heard her say something about must go,
her daughter was laughing and aglow…..
She put her arms around her,
kissed her forehead and cheeks,
knew one thing for sure,
she has changed in the last few weeks…..
There was silence as they both smiled,
she looked puzzled at her mum,
when she heard her say its been awhile,
Go climb that mountain hon……………….to be continued…………..
