Poem/story of forbidden love, and the affects it has on close family and friends..

Their lunch date became a breakfast together,
both spoke freely and undaunted,
he mentioned what he wanted,
and between them things would become better…..
Maria spoke of her love with her husband,
the only man she’d ever been with,
wasn’t sure if she could love again,
Bill had destroyed that belief…..
She needed time and understanding,
been a few years since her marriage ended,
didnt want to be rushed into re-marrying,
this wasn’t a rejection and hoped he’s not offended…..
Their breakfast ended happily,
held hands and tenderly kissed,
friends walking by smiled,
it looked like a couple in total bliss…..
He left Maria at the restaurant table,
vowed they would keep in touch,
their relationship seem to be stable,
being together had improved much…..
As she was walking back to her car,
she saw a man with a small scar,
it was only on the chin of his face,
but it made her think of a wider scar…..
She clutched at her steering wheel,
with her head resting on her hands,
just thought of that strange old man,
and the affect on how she feels…..
She sat back hard in her seat,
and let out a low despondent damn,
deep inside she could feel a rising heat,
and she was only thinking about the man…..
Arriving home went straight to her room,
her cleaner knocked on the door,
said her works done she’ll be going soon,
would you be needing me anymore…..
Invited her in to chat a while,
Rangi was her name from a local tribe,
about the same age with a friendly smile,
worked only part time as she was in child…..
She asked Rangi about the mountain,
why do the Maori’s feel they’re been wronged,
wanted to know more of her culture,
and if she knew about a man called kong…..
Maria was soon to find out,
Rangi would prove to be more than a cleaner,
she’d find a friend whose loyal and devout,
a friend like no other…………to be continued………….
