She went to see their family physician,

conducted some routine tests,

then he confirmed her position,

your seven weeks pregnant at the best……

She couldn’t believe what she heard,

thought she was pass that stage,

was excited and felt absurd,

to be pregnant at her age……

All kind of emotions went through her head,

just wanted to let kong know,

to him she wanted to go,

doctor advised her to rest in bed……..

Kong was simply over the moon,

once again he offered up thanks,

would play his guitar and croon,

Maria would playfully swoon…..

Of their undying love they swore,

for each other ever more.

kong asked for her hand in marriage,

both knew there’s no golden carriage……

Would be many storms to weather,

would take unsurpassing love to survive,

as long as they were together,

the mountain would keep them alive…….

At first Marie was shocked,

she would mope about and brood,

the family friends were also rocked,

understandably in a negative mood……

Marie kept mentioning their family,

of the reproach and terrible shame,

to be carrying a child of a Maori,

and now your going to marry…..

Mother what have you done to our family,

our lives will never be the same,

we have pride and feelings too,

of our Dutch heritage and name……..

Once again Maria spoke to her family,

both her son and daughter,

her son and daughter in law,

while the two little ones played on the floor……

Wanted to put their minds at ease,

Marie looked at her mother as a woman,

tears of compassion swelled in her eyes,
