Poem/story of forbidden love, it affects on all concerned…
Northland
Both the happy groom and bride,
sang to their favorite tune,
‘love will keep us alive’,
before they left for their honeymoon…….
The wedding had gone as planed,
the autumn weather was just fine,
was the prettiest bride in the land,
and everybody had a great time……..
Journeyed to the top of the north island,
spent a week touring the northland,
then flew down to Queenstown,
just relaxing and looking around……

Queenstown
Where ever they would go,
people just warmed to Kong,
the blushing bride was always aglow,
wished the honeymoon would go on…….
After four weeks they returned home,
brought some gifts for everyone,
Kong no longer lived on his own,
his loyalty was to his wedded one…….
The Elders had earlier spoken to him,
due to his changed situation,
his obligations were now to his wife,
and to her he would devote his life…….
Kong and Maria lived at the homestead,
he would work both farms,
went to the valley when in need,
and with Maria never lost his charms……
Things were shaky with Marie and her husband,
he had a problem and was losing the plot,
Started to drink alot,
and was becoming a difficult man……
Duphur’s lawyer’s practice kept him busy,
his wife had a busy schedule too,
her father was senior partner and well to do,
their lives was sweet and easy……
Rangi returned home as nurse aid,
caring for her parents who were not well,
and as a care giver she was paid,
a government subsidy as well…….
Her and Maria kept in touch,
told Maria about her and kong,
when she younger they were very strong,
but it didn’t come to much…..
After he came back from Vietnam,
was messed up and scarred from the war,
was not the same man,
lived in that old hut and barred the door……
Kong is not a man you forget,
you have the beast that was meant for me,
and I still have feelings for him yet,
but I have some ones else’s kids to feed……
Rangi would play a big part in Maria’s life,
she would never become a wife,
but as a loving caring mother,
would care for a child of another…………to be continued……………..
