Poem/story about forbidden love.
Saw people rigging up tents,
others running to their vehicles,
some were running in circles,
knew this rain wouldn’t relent…..
She rode quickly down the mountain,
found the track to the other side,
little creatures were trying to hide,
seeking shelter from the rain…..
Cantered pass a beautiful falls,
paused to look at the cascading waters,
she’d heard of these Dawson falls,
this wasn’t a time to loiter…..
Soon she was on pastured land,
kept riding in the pouring rain,
rode along a narrow lane,
jumping fences and wide drains…..
She was an accomplished rider,
been taught well by her father,
had a very good stead,
came from a very good breed…..
She galloped across a stream,
then up onto solid land,
let out a little scream,
as the reins jerked in her hands…..
Heard a dog barking in the distance,
as she got closer to the cabin,
Maria felt a little hesitant,
the dog was making such a din…..
Saw smoke drifting from the chimney,
hoped the occupants were in,
and show some hospitality,
the place looked old and in ruins……
Didn’t know anyone in these parts,
hoped they’re friendly with open hearts,
on the wooden door she knocked,
she was in for a big shock…………..to be continued……………….
