Mt. Everest is the highest point in the world and is usually used as a metaphor for the ultimate.

Mt. Everest is the highest point

In the world

It’s a little over

29-thousand feet

And located

In the Asian Himalayas

- – -

It’s considered the Goddess

Of the Sky

Its Tibetan name

Is Goddess Mother

Of the Snows

While in Nepal

It’s adored as the Mother

Of the Universe

- – -

In 1865

It was named

After the surveyor

George Everest

But the first successful attempt

To summit this mountain

Was by Edmund Hillary

In 1953

- – -

In 1975

The first woman

To accomplish a similar feat

Was Junko Tabei

Of Japan

- – -

Many persons

Have attempted

To conquer

This massive

Three sided  pyramid

- – -

Over 100 were killed

From falls in crevasses

Intense cold winds

And the effects of thin air

- – -

Attempts to surmount

This mountain

Is usually hampered

By horrific weather

Conditions

- – -

Mt. Everest is often used

As a metaphor

That conjures up

An image

Interesting idea to present it’s story in rhymes… And a bit of new information to me was it’s meaning in Tibetan. Thanks.
