I’ve just had an exhausting few days away being a mum again.

I have been away so have not had much time

To do many reads or write verse and rhyme.

I’ve been doing my motherly duties once more

For my son who always has jobs galore.

He asks me to stay claiming I need a break,

And I always seem to make the same mistake,

For once there I’m presented with a list.

He knows me so well and that I won’t resist

The challenge of making his home sparking clean

And feeding him good wholesome haute cuisine.

So I’ve polished and hoovered and cleared rubbish out.

I’ve cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms and windows throughout.

I’ve stocked up his fridge and have frozen some meals.

It’s hard when you’re working, I know how he feels.

And now I’m back home and I’m frazzled and worn

With only the energy to lie down and yawn.

So next time he offers to have me to stay

I’ll tell him I going on a long holiday

Only joking!!

I know for sure you are a good mother! and I can imagine you preparing haute cuisine. Reminds me of my dear Mother when she was still alive. A Mum’s heart is a treasure we all cherish.

Great write and you are a great mother. My husband calls my oldest daughter a moocher, every time she comes over she wants something, or needs something done. He doesn’t understand. I do understand you being tired so please take time to rest and I will eagerly await your next write. Adrian

I wish my Mom was as nice. Well then again when I was living on my own she always brought me food when I was short on cash. She wouldn’t clean for me or do my laundry though. That is a good thing however, since I would much rather do that on my own. I was always thankful to her whenever she would bring me needed food. I am living back with her now so that isn’t such a big deal anymore. I do plan on moving out by year’s end if I am lucky and have made the needed money.
You sound like a caring mother and I hope your son appreciates you.

I was just listing an advert that said- Every one gets a leave even for a slightest of thing, but mothers never get a leave, other than a maternity leave, but the kid is still with her.
