For my guardian angel.
My angel does not have wings
She does not have golden curls
She is not basked in blinding light
She does not sit on clouds either
She is as normal as you or I
She walked this earth once
But she is dead now, has been for years
She went too early for my liking
I never got to know her as she was
Just a few vague memories I hold dearly onto
My angel is a blood relative
She is my father’s mother
And I have always felt her round me
She looks after me
She cannot stop me making mistakes
Heaven’s rules will not allow it
She just soothes me after
I caught her scouting for my dad
Just before his demise, she came to visit us both.
She looked kindly and said it’s alright
I could not be angry with her
Because I knew he had to leave
She was coming take his hand
She came to protect him
Although almost a pensioner
My dad was still her baby
I love you angel, nan
Sally, beautiful lady.
