"At first a trickle then a flow…"

A little more than a year has passed
Since the words came
The words that were—
My first

At first a trickle then a flow
Dammed up so long
It’s a wonder I—
Never burst

Burst open for all the world to see
Heart and soul revealed
Not sure it’s my blessing or—
My curse

My curse, my stone; my cross to bear
Or just happy coincidence
But I had this need—
This thirst

A thirst that before went un-quenched
Building up pressure inside
For some way to release I—
Must search

Now I’ve found this Ballpoint safety valve
Just blowing off a bit of steam
As seen from here upon—
My perch
