This is a poem I wrote on my birthday.

It’s my birthday, I take a long walk

To look back on my life, to hear God talk

My soul has grown quiet, slipped out of gear

Looking for meaning, wanting to hear

Never  far from me now, I see you again

Age eight as a boy, twenty years a young man

I will not forget, embracing the pain

I love you my son, I’ll stand in the rain

After the storm, the trivial is gone

No desire to pursue the buck or the blond

My friends are still here, wishing me well

Advice for my life: my dreams not to sell

So I take a deep breath, start the walk back

I stop for a flower that grows by the path

Tomorrow or the next day, the plant will be gone

With or without me, life goes on.

It’s my birthday, how far have I come?

The lessons of life, have I learned some?

It no longer matters, to win or to lose

Love only remains, and that’s what I choose.

Your right it’s not about winning or losing… It’s the journey.
    See you on the path.
