A father reaches out about his regrets for decisions that led him to a life apart from his children.

Missing my boys really gets old;

My oldest boy, that boy is bold.

A blessing he was, sent to save our lives,

For we were losing a battle to our own demise.

When he is determined,

He makes things happen.

When he “pees in the potty,” he’ll start clappin’,

He runs around like the world is his,

And he thinks correctly, because my world actually is.

The poor kid looks just like his dad;

Being apart from him makes me so sad.

Missing him grow up so fast;

Counting the time till we can be together again at last.

My son is definitely a gift from up high,

It hurt me so much when we had to say our last

Good Byes.

I love that boy more than life alone,

It makes me so happy to hear his voice on the phone.

My first born is not the only thing I’m missin,’

There is another that needs my huggin’ and kissin.’

My youngest son, he is just a pup;

I haven’t even seen him drink from a cup.

Another gift came when he was born on Mother’s Day;

I can not wait to just get to sit with him on the floor and play.

His smile would grab any man’s heart,

And I knew that boy was special right from the start.

He’s got the look of an Angel that’ll bring tears of joy to my eyes.

I miss the sound of his newborn baby cries.

I am doing my best to get home to them,

Because life without my boys has grown so dim.

To only play outside with them in my dreams at night;

And awaken in tears every morning is a terrible sight.

My children and I are losing our chances to bond;

I only wish that I could just wave a magic wound.

Then the three of us would be together again,

And I’d as for this battle of time; I’d surely win.

To be the one so far away in this situation,

Has given me all the time in the world for some much needed contemplation.

Now when I reflect on my prior actions, I feel so cold;

Missing my boys is getting so old.
