A Poem I wrote about my Grandad, when he died August 2005, he meant everything. This is dedicated to Michael Ian Butler.
I knew it would be hard when you left us,
But not as hard as i thought,
You were the one that kept us altogether,
From all the happiness you brought.
You were the fighter, the strong one,
Who never let us down,
Always gave us strength to carry on,
Never wore a frown.
You brightened up the room,
With your lovely smile,
You never looked glum,
Not even for the while.
So when you got rushed into hospital,
We were sure you would be fine,
Remember your a fighter,
But this was your time.
Even though you suffered so much pain,
You still wore a smile,
We knew you didn’t have long,
But we had you for the while.
Then the day of sadness came,
Like any other would be,
All shocked and unaware,
That you went so suddenly.
At least your out of pain,
But no longer in your home,
But i still wanted you back,
I didn’t want you to be alone.
There were so many things we all needed to say,
But there was not enough time,
I hope you now know,
What was in our minds.
We miss you so much grandad,
More than we ever thought we would,
Oh wouldn’t it be nice to see you one last time,
Oh i wish i could.
Everyday i think of you,
Do you look the same?,
Some days are worse than others,
Some are just insane.
I will never forget you,
Or the person you was,
Because many memories cherished,
But too many memories lost.
You are everything,
Our hero and our world,
You should of won a medal,
Because you would of won gold!
I still cry today,
Even though its been a year and a bit,
but there are memories of you that i will never ever forget.
I love you so much grandad,
You were the greatest in the world,
I will never ever forget you,
Remember you deserve gold.
