A poem and a tribute to my father who died on Father’s day of 1997.
My dad
My dad was a quiet man
Who loved us the best he could
Gentle, loving, & devoted to
Just the way my Lord would do
He lived the life he thought was right
He loved Jesus with all his might
I often saw Him praise the Lord
With a tear, a smile, but few a word
We spent time, my dad and me
Walking, talking, about eternity
His greatest desire he often shared
Was for his family to be there (heaven)
Jesus was Lord of his life
And to this he would testify
Will you be there, with a shout?
Or will you linger and be left out
The choice is yours, don’t delay
His savior is waiting for us today
My Dad went on to be with Him
And we’re to join him again
Make your peace with the Lord today
Take this moment and don’t delay
My dad is waiting for me to come
My choice is made; I’ll be there above
He said to warn you and help you find
The road to Heaven, He was to climb
Will you join my dad and me? And live for eternity?
Happy father’s day dad, I love you. I am rich because of you.
Lovingly, Sandy
