A poem written a few days after my daughter was born.
First time I saw you in your mothers’ arms
I knew we had been gratefully blessed, for you were so healthy and strong
Next was in the nursery, sleeping so contentedly.
Looking at my miracles sweet face, I found it hard to understand
Why daddy was crying but the tears of joy were overwhelming as I watch you.
It also made me realize how fortunate I was to have such a genially precious little daughter as mine.
From the nursery window, from the outside looking in at all the different faces, new creation and darling babies, there you were; my daughter, standing out in the crowd from day one.
You had lots of hair, a dark olive complexion and absolutely gorgeous eyes. Not to mention that you made daddy extremely proud that you were my daughter.
Yes, I was proud and thankful too… Thankful to God for you. You were all in proper working order, all the parts were there, seeing how you are this day, you answered mommy and daddy’s every prayer, and then some
You’re everything but plain or ordinary… you are beautiful unique… you are my daughter! So, how could you expect just one middle name? That’s why daddy gave you two. Leann Corday, I love you with all my heart, I know that with God’s love mommy and daddy will set a fine example for you. Lots of love, your daddy
