A poem about my greatest enemy.
Running to get away from you,
But I can’t seem to escape.
I know I must rid myself of you,
For my life’s sake.
You’re constantly telling me negative things,
Filling my mind with evil thoughts.
Always speaking up my sinful past,
A past from which I forgot.
I’ve seen people wronged by you,
And the tears of the people you done dirty.
Your spontaneous violent outburst, you show the people,
Who cares for you which makes them worry.
I’ve seen you raise your hands,
And hit your brothers.
Talk down to and not honor,
Our sisters and mothers.
You even told me before,
About crimes you had commit.
Then laugh about it, like it’s a joke.
Your humor makes me sick.
I’ve seen you toy with others emotions,
And play with people hearts.
You treat others lives as if it’s a game,
And that people are useless parts.
I detest everything about you,
Your make up, your being.
Only pain and lies come from you,
your a monster, a fiend.
So escape is my only option,
There is nothing more I can do.
You laughed and said “That’s Funny,”
And asked “Do I know the truth?”
You said “Open your eyes do you see?
I am an enemy that you can’t defeat.
Am I truly your enemy or your hate concealed.
Look in the mirror to see the truth revealed.”
So I gazed in the mirror so I could be set free.
And fell to my knees so shocked at what I seen.
Who would have thought that my greatest enemy,
Was no other than I, myself, and me.
