Just a poem I wrote after gardening one year.

Carrot tops sprout from the ground

Each shooting for the sky

The other end is growing down

So thick, and round and long.

Beside them grows some bean plants

Each bush so full and thick

Amongst the dark green leaves is found

Some golden yellow beans.

Along the ground is creeping

Lots of leaves and vines

And trailing in amongst them

Are big cucumbers, so devine.

Amongst these vines are others

Of several different types

Two kinds of squash and pumpkins

Each with their own delight.

Sprouting up with dainty leaves

Some green or crimson shapes

One is sweet red peppers

While the other is hot green ones.

And then amongst the baskets

Are some special little fruits

Some are green and tiny

And will soon be turning red.

There is another vegetable

Whose parts are multi-used

Green leaves make yummy spinach

And below are sweet red beets.

Pea’s and radishes both come up

As early summer crops

Then right beside them growing tall

Grows the golden cobs of corn.

Off in another corner

Neath all of the deep green leaves

Far down below the surface

Grows a quanity of red potatoes.

So much work to grow them all

To rotatil the ground

Forming rows, and planting seeds

And pulling out all the weeds.

Yes a garden is so special

A place where we grow fresh food

Yummy crispy veggies

Loved by most us human beings.

Along with all our work

It takes a lot of time

To go through all the steps it takes

To make our garden grow!

The greatest thing that’s needed

Is lots of tender care

But most of all God’s blessings

Sending sunshine, rain and love.
