It isn’t often we go out to eat but I do enjoy the experience.

Today my hubby to my complete surprise

Came to me with a twinkle in his eyes.

He was going to give me a very rare treat

And take me out for something to eat.

*

I was a bit thrown without a doubt

Because it’s not often he takes me out.

But right away Mr Hau came to mind,

As his Chinese food is the best you can find.

*

Off we toddled, I just couldn’t wait

As it wouldn’t do to arrive too late.

We were greeted as friends with a wink and a smile,

Though they hadn’t seen us for quite a while.

*

Menus were brought but it was in vain

As we always have exactly the same.

Their special fried noodles are as tasty as can be

But my hubby prefers their great chicken curry.

*

Then just when we’d finished and were licking our lips

And you’d have thought there’s nothing that meal to eclipse,

Toffee bananas, the most scrumptious sweet

Was all that it took to make the meal complete.

*

All this was served by the friendliest of staff,

Who know how to charm us and make us all laugh.

Yes, this restaurant deserves the highest of praise

For their wonderful food and their genial ways.

I love Chinese food. Just had pancit canton (Chinese noodles) for lunch. Much of our dishes were influenced by the Chinese. I’m glad you enjoyed the meal with your hubby no less. Next time, try their siopao and wanton noodles. You’ll love them.

As always, I end up dizzy from having to scroll down so far to find a place to comment! Your poems are so genuinely deserving of such a fan club. I’m so glad you enjoyed your evening Christine. As for choosing something different, as far as I’m concerned, as they say – ‘If it ain’t broke, why try to fix it?’
