Being who we are does not rest on what greatness we can accomplish. But simply on how we can authetically extend even a fraction of love for others.

If things were not changing overtime

I would have not known the pains I have now,

And if fate was only too kind,

I could have been the best that I can

My plans were all too perfect,

No mistake ever comes to my mind

Erring would be the last thing I could do,

That is how I believed for so long.

But I was wrong..

If I only have all the money I need

No poor would meet me without being satisfied

No man, hungry and naked, would leave me unloved.

And if only I have all the wisdom

There will be no room for ignorance in the world

No man would have lived without knowledge

For I will share everything I have.

But now I doubt..

If only I have all the time in the world

I will live only doing goodness

I will see that all wrongs will be corrected

No misery could ever come to man

And if only I have all the powers wielded,

By monarchs and state principalities

No wars, no famine, no disputes

Will ever disturb peace among men

Justice will prevail in all places

Or, I could have been corrupted..

But now I have realized;

Life would be so dry if it were not changing

And I could be what I want if I only strive!

But at least now I know, I can be wrong.

I even believe;

I don’t really need to be rich just to help,

And that I can give knowledge, foolish as I am

Sure I am today, and proud of who I am;

With the humble dignity of an honest man

I don’t need to live forever or to stay even for long

Just to be of service to other people.

And that in all the smallest things I have

I can already be fair in all any dealings…

And my life would be enough!

    Agree ako diyan. Sometimes we miss out on what really matters.

    I agree that you do not have to be rich or a genius to be able to give of yourself even if only in some small way.

    Contentment is when we recognize that the things we’ve done were so far the best that we can and we leave everything in God’s hands. Contentment is recognizing God’s momentary grace in this ever changing life and space, that’s growth, that’s LIFE..dynamic and alive!

    A very good read. God command us to be content with what we have.
