My name is Jamie

I’m not the only one

I even gave my name (in the middle) to my Son

Please do not blame me

If I draw comparison

To others who are more famous

and earn their money by the ton.

Their success , it seems,

In some way rubs off on me

So I can have some measure

Of their notoriety.

When I give my name

To a person I’ve just met.

I often add the following to colour what I’ve said.

“Like Bell, Theakston or Oliver,

Fox or Jamie T

Like Lee – Curtis, Cullum or Murray”

(All more talented than me.)

In this way I steal from them

A tiny piece for me

Of their hard earned fame

 So to live vicariously.

But now that I reflect

I can see the problem with that.

In that every other Jamie

Appears to be a twat!
