I have built a nest as a foundation for my nest egg. In it, I plan to save for emergencies by being as wise like the Greek Nestor, of the Trojan War fame, and former King of Pylos.
With a circular structure
Of twigs, grasses, leaves
Mud, and other sediments
I’ve built a nest
As a foundation in which
To place my nest egg
- – -
My special egg
As I describe it
I’d put aside for emergencies
Retirement and gloomy days

It’d be deliberately managed
To gain interest through investments
And provide for my future needs
- – -
To this end
I’d save confidently
With the hope
That my constant contributions
Would surpass all of my expectations
- – -
I made a pledge last New Year’s Day
That I’d not dip into these funds
Unless there was a dire emergency
One which couldn’t be averted otherwise
- – -
To this end
I was most serious
For I had to keep my word
I couldn’t go back on it
Like in the past
- – -
I hope that in this accomplishment
My efforts would be in a small way
Be compared to the wisdom of Nestor
A Greek in the Trojan War fame
That was King of Pylos
