A Sonnet.

Upon the seabed of my heart

A secret; shipwrecked year ago

My mind has ceased to be a guard

Of sentiments that all now know

That once upon the time that’s passed

I stood before you, wish you’d grasp

The feeling lit within the lamp

That sat inside my eyes that night

Though damned anxiety would cramp

The fire burning quite so bright

And now I wonder where you stand

The ghost of me still in your hand

So often moored within a tear

You could have been my only pier.

Firstly thanks for the lovely comments, after you mentioned me missing out the word ‘the’ I noticed I’d also done it on one of the other poems, I think sometimes I have a word aversion disease that is intermittent..lol

I love this poem btw, most of mine seem to involve water or battlegrounds, maybe I should try something else.

    Ginks.. :)

I love this, its sad and beautiful all at the same time. If I were to make one comment though, I’m not sure about ‘crap’ – if that’s not a whoops then it does jar a bit with the rest of the language.

cafftee – it’s meant to be cramp not crap haha! Thanks for pointing it out, though – there’s a stark difference between the too.

Ginky – you’re welcome & good for you! More people should have such nerve as yourself.

I enjoyed your creativity in this poem and the haunted emotional memory it represents.
