One day as I rode ’cross the Prairie
I decided that I really would marry
Who would I marry, of course
I’d marry my trusty old horse
As together we ride ‘cross the Prairie.
I rode up to the young teacher
Stopped and bent down to reach her
She said that she would
If only she could
When I asked if she’d be the preacher.
You might think its balony
But I love my dear pony
A faithful friend
We’ll ride to the end
Over ground if its smooth or its stony.
