Behind closed doors
I hide.
Unwilling to show my torment.
Tears cascade down
My body shakes as
I try to suppress my sorrow
Behind closed doors
I hide.
Unwilling to show my torment.
But you see
And You shelter me
‘Neath Your shadow
This world is cruel
It laughs at my pain
But You share my grief
I cry out to You
And You hear me.
You say, “Hush my child. I’m here”
Peace steals over me.
My tears subside.
I feel Your presence.
Weariness seeps into my bones.
My eyelids grow heavy and
My breathing deepens.
I slumber
As You watch over me:
My Protector.
