My Protector

To the one that is always there for me.

Never thought I could love again
You would be doubtful too
If you saw where I have been
Walking on a high wire
I was spread too thin
Starting hating who I was within
Numbing the pain I felt
That was the only way I could deal
With all the pain that I was dealt
But then my angel walked my way
Told me that he was there to stay
He is my protector
He is there through it all
He catches me
Whenever I fall
He’s always there for me
He stands by my side
I no longer have reason to hide
Even though I never thought I could love again,
I am able to because of my protector,
My best friend,
He helped my heart to mend
and I owe so much to him

I never get a clear picture of who the “protector” is–only how he/she contribute. The language is great and the poem reads well. perhaps, if some concrete image of the “protector” was apparent, the poem could be labeled ‘complete” still, being a poem, it can exist as is–but you want better–don’t you?–do you know what I mean?
