My Refuge describes a person that thrives at night or in the dark because they feel hidden from the world. They feel safe in this dark existence because they haven’t allowed themselves to really be seen for who they are.

I stare out into the night,

searching for some form of light.

The darkness overtakes it all and my eyes struggle to regain sight.

I am soothed by the quiet and gentle flow of time.

The peacefulness to me is like a healing wine.

The world that surrounds me ceases to exist.

Leaving only darkness and a glitter of mist.

I find my contentment here

and have nothing at all to fear.

I feel safe and find refuge in the shadows of my fortress.

I’m hidden from the eyes of this world,

like a flower that has not yet shown it’s beauty, waiting to unfurl.

Am I mad for enjoying the silence,

or is this somehow my form of alliance?
