A poem to my sweet little grandbaby who passed away of SIDs on January, one 2010… May God Bless His Soul…

I watched you come into this world. You are a
miracle I will never, ever forget!

Yet……

There are so many things you never got to do,
Like watching cartoons on saturday and your first day of school.
You never got to play in the dirt and come inside a mess.
Or have to eat your veggies or put your mama to the test.
You never got to play pretend, or have a favorite toy truck.
Or test the bullie at your school just to try your luck.
No crush that turned to puppy love, No building a boys club forte.
No chance to ever be a teen, or compete in a favorite sport.
You never got to graduate and thus become a man.
Or fall in love and marry, or go to the ocean and make love in the sand.
The blessing of a child, to watch how fast they grow.
A first word, a toddled first step, you never got to know.
Even the task of living life, the good times and the bad.
You never got to fight a battle and give it all you had.
But the sweetest things you didn’t miss,
your mama’s love, your mama’s tender kiss.
You brought so much joy into our world, and changed your mama’s path.
You did more in your short time here, than most do as a grown man.
Your mama loved you oh so dearly, she never let you cry.
She played with you and made you smile. She held you all the time.
Sweet baby James, We miss you. We wish you never left.
But the good Lord has his reasons, and We know that he knows best.
So while I write this poem, a tear runs down my face.
I just want you to know how much you were loved,
for that’s my saving grace.

Thank You Lord for Giving us a little Angel to love,
though he’s with you now, our love for our sweet baby
will last a lifetime.
Amen.
