My Ultimatum

I’m afraid his true colors are starting to show.

For, the person I see now, I do not know.

He is unlike he was, not so long ago.

Maybe this is why, I wanted to say no.

To becoming his girlfriend, I knew it was wrong.

I knew there was a reason behind me never dating anyone.

Because I have plans for where I want my life to be.

And I will not allow him to control me.

Yet, everyday he finds an excuse to keep me away from my friends.

My life was fine, before I let him in.

It is only going to take one more time.

Before I get him out of this life of mine.

For, I am not a piece of meat, he does not own me.

I am my own person, not his property.

He has only one choice, as far as I’m concerned.

If he chooses against it, then I can chalk this up, to a lesson learned.

He can stand by my side, and accept me the way that I am.

Or he can walk the path alone, to becoming a man.

For, it takes a real man to stand by someone’s side.

Not in front or behind her, just allow her to shine.

Either accept my friends, and my future plans.

Or this is good-bye, I hope you understand.
