My fair child…

You are my legacy,
   my solid crystal words reborn
from the flame of your innocent eyes.

  Those eyes,
so full of the ocean and sky,
yet harboring the brightest candle I have yet to see.

  You are my lighthouse,
   for when I stray
all I must do is take one look and quickly I am
brought safely to your gentle shores.

  Those shores,
tiny arms where no ice forms
even in the dead of winter,
mermaids and silver fish swim freely
   in your basking radiance.

  Oh, my sweet primrose,
   Oh, my child,
even when my somber bone touches the silent grave
   I will reach for you,
   from far beneath the willow,
  I shall call.

And within the very woven cloth of your skin,
a tiny piece of me shall dwell,
in the flicker of your smile,
even in the light cast of your delicate hair.

So I do not fear for my memory,
the meaning of the word “forgotten”
   does not exist.
For I know that forever and always
   shall my eternal spirit be
in the blessed halls of the smallest angel,
   my fairest,
   Natalie….
