Like a soul

It is only a matter of time before the hungry bird becomes aggressive

Lost as it is between being in flight and being on the ground

The grass is no longer green but it needs to be mowed it is too tall

It will lie beneath you but it is not soft, not comforting

Yet it will light the logs you lay above it to start a fire

Like memories

The clouds wisp along the sky they never stay too long

Still there is seldom a time they are completely absent

There are dead leaves on the tree

It no longer provides shelter from the scorching sun

Yet it is there to climb, to anchor, and to amaze in beauty

Like love

The strength of the waves crash along the shore

They still replenish while they wash away the broken shells

The moon is bright it is always full

It illuminates the path, the cracks, and the shadows

Without it there is complete darkness

Like humans

Things are said sometime with regret

Actions cause reactions that sometimes hurt

Still beneath it all there is no malice

No animosity, no lingering anger, no hatred

There is an unconditional and lasting love
