A poem inspired by my grandson and a Rainbow song.

From the time my grandson was born I’ve taken every opportunity to sing the song, ‘I Can Sing a Rainbow’ to him. As we live quite far away from each other, often our phone calls will include what he calls, ‘The Rainbow Song’. I never tire of singing it, because it gives me so much joy to hear his little voice singing along, but also because I know it is encouraging him to remember the wonder and beauty of nature.
I was inspired to write a poem about ‘The Rainbow Song’.

Nature’s Rainbow Message
.
Red and yellow, pink and green
What can it possibly mean?
.
A rainbow of colour
A treasured gift of sight
A wondrous arch of beauty
Filling hearts with pure delight
.
Purple and orange, and blue
What does it mean to you?
.
A message written in the sky
Of hope, or joy, or love
Would we look at it the same
If not canvassed from above!
.
Natures silent words, so loud
bathed in glorious painted hue
Reminding us to feel her magic
And sing along with her too.

I Can Sing a Rainbow – Song Lyrics
.
Red and yellow and pink and green
Purple and orange and blue
I can sing a rainbow
Sing a rainbow
Sing a rainbow too.
.
Listen with your eyes
Listen with your ears
And sing everything you see
I can sing a rainbow
Sing a rainbow
Sing along with me.
.
Red and yellow and pink and green
Purple and orange and blue
I can sing a rainbow
Sing a rainbow
Sing a rainbow too!
