I wrote this while I sat under a big maple tree during a thunderstorm and was moved by every sense I experienced.
As the storm rolls in
The earth falls quiet
Only the trees whisper in the wind.
The night has fallen but the sky’s alight
While the smell of rain hangs in the air.
The grass starts swaying
And the clouds tumble in
But not one drop has caressed the ground.
As the air grows thick
The trees fall silent
Then a splash echoes in the distance.
Water starts falling
And birds start their song
While a breeze moves swiftly through the air.
The dirt is now soaked
As the sky goes clear
All the stars in the sky are looking.
Now the moon comes out
The world is at peace
Still the scent of rain hangs in the air.
