This poem depicts the needless desires of the Human Heart that cannot come with us when we depart. Written by…E.B. Wilkes. Please read and give your much needed comment! Thank you.

:We want

We need

We claim

We hoard

We keep

We hunger for the best

Are we no better than the wolves

that kill the sheep?

We never want to let go

We buy and buy

We steal and connive

We aim to own

We hold tight to our load

Then we die

without having learned

that all we sought to be ours

will remain here on Earth

right under the stars.

O’ the thoughts we humans think

are often the thoughts we never thought!

Why is it that we humans

cannot understand that nothing on Earth

is really ours?
