I was watching the cats on the lawn and it inspired me to write this poem.

My options are open

Some of this..! bit of that…!

I come and I go

I’m a neighbourhood cat.

I lap up warm milk,

sit on pretty girls laps,

then I  leave them to clean up

and escape through the flap.

I’m podgy and mean

I’ve been in a few fights

Lost a whisker or two

In an alley some nights.

The scars that I’ve got

make girls pet me and smile

‘Oh you poor little stray

Come and sit by the fire.’

I can nap in a hammock

for hours at a time

but I always wake up

At the dinner bell chime.

# Boing! #

I won’t be seen in a blue

 velvet collar or bell

Then I’m fed on smoked salmon,

maybe whiskers complete

Curled  in blankets

or basket

I fall fast asleep.

The cute little children

love to chase me and tease

He don’t say who he belongs to

Can we keep him Mom…. Please?

I’ve left a few Pedigree

kittens behind me

They’d call for cat maintenance

If they only could find me.
