Feelings change with every passing day.

Stars never stop shining

Planets never cease to move

The tides never stop changing

With the phases of the moon

Why am I not as constant

As Faithful and true

If I hardly know myself

How can I expect you too

They are lamentable,

Mistakes I’ve made in life

In passion and anger

I’ve never thought twice

Love,sorrow and pain

How dare they intertwine?

Wrath and intimacy

Should never be combined

How did we get here?

I wonder that still

How can My life change

If it’s against My will?

I’ve lost a lot of things

In my effort to be free

But amidst all this loss

I might have found me

I often wonder if we have a preordained destiny and if that can be changed ` thought provoking write

Nice poem Shelly. It is truly amazing how our emotions can be so, as you say, “intertwined”. Joy, happiness, contentment, and amusement are all wonderful emotions. But some emotions, like anger, sorrow, and fear, we can not trust. When these emotions overcome us, we need friends, loved ones, and the grace of God to help see us through these troubling and trying times. Thanks for writing and posting.

I like the question “How can my life change if it’s against my will?” It’s hard to become that which we desire when we have to deal with sorrow, pain, and anger. Maybe it’s the sorrow, pain, and anger that shapes us and makes us better. Not all anger is bad. It can be channeled to be constructive. Your writing is honest and thought provoking! Keep it up Shelly :)

Oh and the pic is of the moon going through it’s phases, it didn’t come out on my end, but those of you who can see it will like it or you can click on it I think.

Very nice flowing poem. Finding yourself sometimes comes with a hefty price. Hopefully, the price you paid wasn’t too expensive. Well done friend.

I looked up the picture on Wikipedia; it is a picture of the lunar progression from new moon to new moon. Perfect portrait of your thoughts.

As I read this, I thought of a particular verse: “That which I will is not what I do…. Oh wretched man! Who will save me from myself?” (paraphrase)

  • cafftee on Jul 30, 2009

I love this, probably because I feel I can relate a little, but also because its so nicely written.
