This poem is about how the government dictates what teachers are allowed to teach. Written By…E.B. Wilkes.
Early to bed early to rise
because in the morn
it’s off to school
to learn the teachers
golden rules, so you may have a clue
as to what you can do
so you never have to fret about
the thin blue line coming to look,
to book you.
Learn only what has been chosen
by your government to be taught.
so that one day through compromise
your by way of your limited morals
you can be bought.
If your learn enough
you’ll be able to hold up
and hold out
for having learned enough.
Never hurt your brain
by trying to learn too much
because the government
never wants you to get too big
for your little britches.
Think like you are taught
Never try thinking on your own
because free thinkers
make the government think
you just may be thinking about
taking away its throne.
